Barcelona: advancing the technology of connectivity

Giga’s Technology Centre in Barcelona develops the tools that make school connectivity possible at scale.

In 2025, the centre expanded its role as a hub for open-source innovation and collaboration:

Supporting over 8,000 downloads of Giga’s geospatial planning tools and launching the Giga Accelerator Programme, selecting 9 startups from 350+ applicants developing new connectivity solutions.

These solutions range from solar-powered connectivity to AI-enabled analytics — helping bring new technologies into real-world deployment.

The centre also works closely with Governments through hands-on programmes, ensuring tools are adapted to national contexts.

For technology and private sector partners, Barcelona provides a platform to co-develop scalable infrastructure solutions with global application.
