Giga

The Giga Connectivity Centre is Open!

Today is the first step in the activation of the Giga Connectivity Centre, a hub for global efforts geared towards connecting schools to the internet.

From its location at Campus Biotech, in the heart of international Geneva, the Giga Centre will also serve as the headquarters for Giga, the ITU/UNICEF partnership towards achieving universal school connectivity by 2030. It will be home to the joint ITU/UNICEF Giga team, where they get to meet, co-create, swap stories and collaborate with other stakeholders to advance Giga’s 2030 goal.

The Centre will facilitate innovation, capacity building, information sharing and showcasing of solutions across the entire value chain of school connectivity to help stakeholders advance their digital transformation journeys in education.

The Centre will also be the base for Giga’s work on supporting governments in mobilizing capital for connectivity and to streamline public procurement processes for contracting school connectivity services to reduce costs and accelerate implementation.

Work is still underway to create a space that delivers on all the objectives of the Centre with an inauguration to take place in July 2025. Over the coming months, as the Centre scales up with activities, look out for:

  • Capacity development programs, enabling continuous learning on connectivity for development.
  • A state-of-the-art experience centre, showcasing innovative solutions from across the globe.

Stay tuned for more updates!
