Summary
To advance its mission of connecting schools to the internet, Giga is seeking strategic advisory services focused on models and strategies for scaling operations in Geneva. The consultant will help Giga strengthen partnerships with key stakeholders—including government bodies, international organizations, and private sector partners— to create scalable solutions for school connectivity. The focus will be on leveraging the unique opportunities available in Geneva to support Giga’s efforts to bridge the digital divide through enhanced connectivity in schools worldwide.
Your responsibilities will be…
This Long-Term Agreement (LTA) aims to provide Giga with strategic advisory services on models and strategies for scaling its operations in Geneva. This will involve working closely with Giga’s leadership and external stakeholders to facilitate the expansion of Giga’s work, with a focus on connecting schools to the internet.
The consultant will be called upon for specific tasks as needed under the LTA. These tasks will include:
- Strategic Positioning within Geneva
– Advise Giga on positioning itself as a key player within Geneva’s international development and policy landscape. This includes engaging with relevant international organizations, private sector actors, and government bodies to align Giga’s connectivity mission with the priorities of the Geneva-based institutions. - Stakeholder Engagement and Relationship Building
– Develop and implement strategies to strengthen relationships with critical stakeholders in Geneva. The consultant will focus on facilitating partnerships and collaborations that will enhance Giga’s ability to scale its school connectivity efforts globally. - Policy and Advocacy Support
– Provide insights into the policy landscape in Geneva, with recommendations for advocacy efforts that align with Giga’s mission. The consultant will identify opportunities to influence decision-makers, particularly within the international development sector. - Development of Strategic Models for Growth
– Assist Giga in designing models for growth that take into account the unique regulatory and operational environment in Geneva. The consultant will assess how Giga can leverage local and international partnerships to scale its operations and drive sustainable school connectivity solutions. - Deliverable-Based Advisory Support
– Prepare high-quality reports, presentations, and strategic documents to inform Giga’s leadership and partners on the best approaches to scaling operations in Geneva.
– Provide ad-hoc strategic input through consultations, including meetings or written recommendations on specific challenges.

To qualify for this position, you will have…
- An advanced university degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Engineering, Telecommunications, Business Administration, Economics, or a related field. A first University Degree in a relevant field combined with 2 additional years of professional experience may be accepted in lieu of an Advanced University Degree.
- A minimum of 10 years of professional experience in strategic advisory roles, particularly in engaging global companies and developing collaborative networks and partnerships.
- Proven track record in business development, corporate strategy, and public-private partnerships, especially in international contexts.
- Strong leadership and communication skills, with the ability to influence high-level stakeholders.
- Extensive network within the global technology and public sector, with experience in engaging with government and international organizations.
- Exceptional writing and presentation skills, capable of articulating complex ideas to diverse audiences.
- Fluency in English is required. Knowledge of another official UN language (Arabic, Chinese, French, Russian or Spanish) or a local language is an asset.
Travel:
- Remote-based, with some mission travels to Geneva, Barcelona and countries working with Giga which will be determined at the contracting stage.
Payment details and further considerations:
- Payment will be made after completion of deliverables and submission of invoices for the actual work completed, subject to satisfactory performance.
- The consultant must submit a financial proposal as part of the application, establishing the fee for the services defined in each task. The quoted fee will remain fixed during the entire period of the Long-Term Agreement.
- UNICEF reserves the right to withhold payment if the deliverables do not meet the required standards or if there are delays in submission. Payments will be processed only after the deliverables are approved by the relevant Giga team.
