Giga is participating in the Africa Tech Festival in Cape Town from November 12 to 14.
Giga will be represented across a diverse range of talks and panels throughout the festival, which focuses on how tech integration is delivering real-world impact through enterprise excellence and socioeconomic development.
Kicking off participation will be Giga CTO Naroa Zurutuza who will discuss opportunities to improve data centre infrastructure as part of a panel on Future-Proofing Data Centres: Challenges and Strategies for the Modern Data Centre. She will also be presenting at a session on Building a Decentralized Global Trusted Public Network Infrastructure.
Other speakers include the Giga Procurement Section Lead, Jaime Archundia, on Forming New Business Models for the Future of Broadband: Transforming Africa’s Digital Network Infrastructure and Giga Communication Lead, Nobuntu Ndlovu, on Breaking Barriers, Building Bridges: African Women Paving the Way in Tech.
Giga Senior Advisor, Lisa Meng, will unpack how businesses are working to unlock value and finding new ways to partner in the panel, Bridging the Connectivity Gap with Collaboration: How Telco Partnerships will drive Innovation in Africa.
Giga’s participation at Africa Tech recognises the urgent work required to bridge the digital divide on the continent. Internet services are unaffordable for many, especially people with low-middle income levels, who may spend up to 13 per cent of their monthly income to pay for mobile Internet, and 30 per cent on fixed broadband.
The Broadband Commission’s benchmarks for affordability sit at 1.25 per cent and 2 per cent for mobile and fixed broadband respectively.
