ITU Academy: Applied Geospatial Tools for School Connectivity
May 19 - May 23

As part of its capacity development initiative, the Giga Learning Hub is organizing an in-person training through the ITU Academy to build practical skills in geospatial analysis for school connectivity. The course will guide participants in using QGIS and Python to address real-world challenges by sourcing and analyzing open data from platforms such as Giga Maps, OpenStreetMap, Ookla, OpenCellID, and NASA.
Participants will identify underserved areas, model internet demand, and develop evidence-based connectivity business plans. The training covers topics such as visibility analysis, fiber path planning, and data visualization with tools like KeplerGL, combining technical skill-building with hands-on application to support data-driven decision-making for digital inclusion.
